Student teacher: 'A lot of paperwork but it gets easier'

A third of secondary school teacher training places were not filled at the start of this academic year, official figures show.

A teaching union said it showed Wales faced a problem with recruiting teachers in Wales.

Only 553 students began initial teacher training courses at secondary level in September 2015 but the target set by the Welsh Government was 880.

Modern languages student teacher Angharad David at Ysgol Gyfun y Strade in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, said no day was the same and although there is a lot of paperwork, it gets easier.
