Recycling rate hits 60% as councils seek to avoid fines

Wales has increased the amount of rubbish it recycles to 60%.

The latest provisional statistics show most local authorities are now reaching - or exceeding - the Welsh Government's 58% target for this year.

The best-performing council is Ceredigion at 68%; the worst is Blaenau Gwent at 49%.

Mal Williams from Zero Waste Wales said the overall figures were encouraging.
