The woman from Monmouthshire behind The Third Man film

The Third Man, starring Orson Welles and Joseph Cotton, is considered a masterpiece of British Cinema.

It has been praised by critics and film fans since 1949, but it may never have made it to the big screen if it was not for a woman from Wales.

Joyce Bowden from Monmouthshire worked for the film's director - and helped persuade him to make it.

Paul Heaney has the story.
