Twitter music performed by string quartet in Cardiff

It has often been said music can be anything you can hum, sing or, in this case, tweet.

Musicians from Germany are performing original compositions at Cardiff University's School of Music sent to them on Twitter .

The Signum Quartet asked for works of 140 notes or fewer.

Xandi van Dijk, the quartet's violist, said: "Social media is at the centre of a change in how we communicate with each other, and we wanted to extend this experiment in communication to the realm of music."

The music can be heard on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Cardiff University Concert Hall.
