Mumbles RNLI rescues dog after Gower cliff fall

A dog which tumbled 50ft down a cliff on Gower has been rescued by a lifeboat.

Mumbles RNLI said Marly the springer spaniel was taken 40ft (12m) further down the cliff to the shoreline, which was only accessible from the sea.

Crew member Andy Miles said it was the fourth animal rescue they had performed in "a matter of weeks" and appealed for dog owners to be careful on cliff paths.

The dog was retrieved by two volunteer crew members, who are climbing instructors, transferred to the inshore lifeboat and returned the dog to its owners at Langland beach.
