New Zealand miner: Explosion knocked me unconscious

Russell Smith, one of the men who survived the blast in the Pike River mine in New Zealand and walked out, has spoken about his ordeal and given some idea of the scale of the explosion.

The families of 29 miners trapped by the explosion face many hours more delay as toxic gases prevent rescuers going in.
