Barack Obama 'could order another operation in Pakistan'

US President Barack Obama has told the BBC that he would be prepared to order another covert operation inside Pakistan against high level al-Qaeda or Taliban targets.

In an exclusive interview, he told Andrew Marr that it was his job to ensure the security of the United States and its allies.

But the president also acknowledged the need for talks with the Taliban as part of any political settlement in Afghanistan.

The BBC's Steve Kingstone reports.
