Amateur global sailing race to begin

The only round-the-world sailing race for novices begins on Sunday, with hundreds of amateur sailors leaving Southampton for almost a year.

The 40,000 mile Clipper Round The World Race was thought up by ocean racer Sir Robin Knox-Johnston as a way of helping sailing appear less elitist.
