Syria situation 'getting desperate'

Syria's President Bashar Assad is losing "the last shreds of his legitimacy" according to British Foreign Secretary William Hague.

In Washington, the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has also been pushing for more international action.

As the BBC's Jim Muir reports from neighbouring Lebanon, it comes amid reports that troops loyal to the Assad government have opened fire with machine guns in the port city of Latakia, for a fourth day.
