Typhoon Haiyan: China defends aid pledge

State media in China has been defending the country's aid amount to the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

Beijing said on Wednesday it would send an extra 10m yuan (£1m; $1.64m) worth of relief supplies, following criticism of its initial pledge of 610,000 yuan (£62,000 $100,000).

Lucy Williamson reports from Beijing.
