Islamic State militants intensify siege of Kobane, Syria
Islamic State militants have intensified attacks on the Syrian town of Kobane, near the border with Turkey, from where thousands of Syrian Kurds have fled.
Meanwhile, Turkish soldiers at the border have fired tear gas to break up a demonstration by local Kurds who have been prevented from crossing into Syria to defend the town.
