The lives forever changed by Camp Bastion

British combat operations in Afghanistan have ended after the final UK military base was handed over to Afghan security forces.

From 2006, Camp Bastion was home to thousands of British troops - at its height, it was the size of Reading.

More than 450 British soldiers who served in Afghanistan lost their lives, while many others were injured, or permanently affected in other ways.

John Maguire met two families whose lives have changed forever.
