Ship carrying over 700 migrants rescued off Greek coast

Greek authorities have rescued over 700 migrants from a cargo ship which lost engine power in gale-force winds.

The ship is now off the island of Crete, and doctors have started checking its passengers - many are from Syria.

Tens of thousands of people try to make the journey to Europe every year but this is thought to be one of the largest single crossings in recent years.
