Migrants' stories: 'People thought they were going to die'

The Italian island of Sicily is dealing with an escalating humanitarian crisis, with about 1,000 migrants arriving every day.

Many do not survive the perilous journey from Africa and the Middle East.

BBC Africa reporter Peter Musembi has been talking to some of those who made it to Sicily.
