Where the dead are still part of the family

This video contains scenes that some viewers may find disturbing.

Dan Dooro died two years ago, aged 86, yet is still kept and cared for at his son's home. His son John Lasso explains that the family continue to bring him food, even cigarettes and coffee, believing that if the rituals are not followed, his father's spirit will haunt them.

In the Tana Toraja region of Sulawesi, Indonesia, the dead share the space with the living. Funerals can take place months, even years, after the somebody passes away. Even after that has taken place, the coffins regularly join the families for reunions.
