UN to remain in Ivory Coast despite demands to leave

The United Nations Security Council has extended the mandate of its peacekeeping force in Ivory Coast and again called on Laurent Gbagbo to step down as president.

But Mr Gbagbo's supporters are vowing to fight to the death to keep him in office.

He has called for French and UN peace keeping soldiers to leave the country immediately.

The BBC's Thomas Fessy reports from Abidjan.
