Tourists flee Tunisia as violence escalates

Holiday makers in Tunisia have been fleeing the country as violent protests continue in the capital Tunis.

A state of emergency has been declared and a nationwide night-time curfew has been enforced after weeks of violent clashes with police have resulted in dozens dead.

Tunisia's President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali has stepped down after 23 years in power, and Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi said he would be taking over from the president.

Adam Mynott reports.
