Charles Taylor war crimes trial nears end

Defence lawyers at the Hague will begin presenting their closing arguments in the war crimes trial of the former Liberian president, Charles Taylor, on Wednesday.

Mr Taylor faces 11 charges, including murder, rape, sexual slavery and the use of child soldiers during the civil war in Sierra Leone that began in 1991.

He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
