Rebels battle for Ajdabiya amid allied bombing

On Thursday night French and British planes bombed Colonel Gaddafi's forces on the outskirts of the town of Ajdabiya in the east of the country, where rebel forces have been engaged in a desperate fight to take control of the town.

Rebels say attacks on ground forces are vital, but Nato members have not yet agreed to back such action.

The BBC's Ian Pannell and cameraman Jon Boone report from Ajdabiya.
