UN says people of Abidjan 'immensely traumatised'

Forces for the country's internationally recognised leader Alassane Ouattara are surrounding his rival Laurent Gbagbo's residence in Abidjan. The plan, it seems, is to avoid an assault on Mr Gbagbo's underground bunker, but starve him into submission.

Humanitarian organisations are increasingly concerned about getting aid into Abidjan. The United Nations' Emergency Relief Co-ordinator Valerie Amos, who has recently witnessed conditions in the city for herself, says that people there are "immensely traumatised".

Mike Wooldridge reports.
