Tripoli hit with heaviest Nato air strikes in weeks

The Libyan capital Tripoli has been hit by the heaviest Nato air strikes in weeks.

Reports say that at least four sites were hit including what is thought to be a military intelligence agency.

Another target appeared to be a military compound used by Colonel Gaddafi.

The United Nations humanitarian chief has called for a pause in hostilities in order to get urgent help to civilians in the besieged city of Misrata.

Andrew Harding reports from Benghazi.
