Libya: On Brega's front line

Rebels in eastern Libya say they are ready to discuss a political settlement with the government in Tripoli as long as it involves Colonel Gaddafi and his circle leaving power.

The opposition group says significant numbers of senior Libyan army officers are deserting the regime, a claim which the government in Tripoli has denied.

The BBC's diplomatic correspondent Bridget Kendall reports from the rebel side of the front line near Brega.
