UN Secretary General: Urgent famine action is needed

The United Nations has declared a famine in two areas of southern Somalia as the region suffers its worst drought in more than half a century.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that urgent action is needed to help those affected.

He added that he has appealed to world leaders to respond urgently to the crisis.
