Malawi president rejects calls to stand down

Malawi's president has rejected calls to stand down after two days of deadly protests.

At least 18 people have been killed and 44 wounded. The demonstrators accusr President President Bingu wa Mutharika of overseeing a steep economic decline.

The authorities use of force to try stop the unrest has drawn widespread international condemnation.
