African Dream: Kenya's Susan Githuku
Susan Githuku knew that she was going to start her own business the moment she got her first job, nearly 20 years ago.
She first worked for the government of Kenya as an economist and later was employed by Coca Cola for a decade.
In 2009, she broke free of employment and flew solo by beginning her own human resource consultancy, HPDA Africa.
She told the BBC series African Dream how her experiences with the state, the private sector and NGOs allowed her to become a successful entrepreneur.
