Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Youssou N'Dour battle fake drugs

Two of Africa's biggest music stars - South Africa's Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Senegal's Youssou N'Dour - have collaborated with Interpol on a song to raise awareness of the health risks of counterfeit medicines.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka said she took part in the campaign because she felt that awareness of the dangers of counterfeit medicines was badly needed.

"People think that medication that is cheap is okay," she told the BBC World Service.

Interpol says pharmaceutical crime is a major threat to public health and that in some areas of Asia, Africa and Latin America counterfeit medical goods can form up to 30% of the market.
