Nigerian finance minister on fuel subsidy cut
Nigerian unions have launched a nationwide strike over the elimination of a government fuel subsidy.
Correspondents say the strike is likely to bring parts of the country, Africa's largest oil exporter, to a standstill.
Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala played a key role in the decision to the abolish the subsidy.
She told the BBC she knew people would be upset about the decision but the money saved would be reinvested to pay for basic services.
