Nigeria is facing multiple crises after the government's decision to scrap the oil subsidy has brought the country to the brink, leading to violent protests, curfews and strikes.

Successive governments have failed to transform Nigeria's oil wealth into prosperity, with over half the country living in poverty.

Meanwhile, an Islamist insurgency gathers pace in the north.
