Assault launched on Somali rebel city
African Union forces made up of Kenyan and Somali troops have launched an assault on the al-Shabab militant group in its last major Somali stronghold, the town of Kismayo.
Al-Shabab uses the small port town to bring in weapons and earn money for its operations.
Kenyan military spokesman Colonel Cyrus Oguna told the BBC parts of Kismayo had been captured and the rest was expected to fall soon.
