Scuffles as Kampala mayor is voted out by councillors

Councillors in the Ugandan capital Kampala have voted to impeach its Mayor, Erias Lukwago.

He is one of president Yoweri Museveni's most vocal critics and he and his supporters see the impeachment as another attempt by the President to silence his critics.

Mr Lukwago says the process was flawed because they had a court injunction stopping the meeting but were prevented by the police from delivering it to the councillors.

The government denies the existence of any such document.

The BBC's Sophie Ikenye reports.
