UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon: Aid workers 'exceptional'

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has spoken out against discrimination against aid workers who return home after helping deal with the Ebola crisis in West Africa, hailing them as "exceptional" individuals.

Strict quarantine rules were hampering aid efforts when more health workers are needed in order to deal with the crisis, he told BBC News in Nairobi.

International efforts had been insufficient but were now "catching up", the UN secretary general added.
