Senegal to expel Gambian opposition figure

The expulsion of a prominent Gambian opposition figure is being interpreted by some as a signal to The Gambia that Senegal no longer wishes to be perceived as a harbour for Gambian opposition figures.

Cheikh Sidya Bayo, who also has French citizenship, is accused of being a threat to public order.

However, the precedent that this could set has been met with concern by the large number of Gambian dissidents based in Senegal.
