India under attack over decision to allow western shops
The Indian government is under attack after its decision to open up its retail sector to western supermarkets.
Groups representing small and medium-sized traders have been planning protests against the move announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last week.
Companies like Tesco, Carrefour and Wal-mart have been trying to access the Indian market for years.
