Afghan government plans to meet Taliban
The Afghan government has announced that it is planning to meet the Taliban, in an attempt to start peace talks.
BBC News understands that a meeting will take place in Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks, before the Taliban set up an office in the Gulf state of Qatar.
The Taliban has previously refused to recognise President Karzai's government as legitimate.
BBC correspondent Bilal Sarwary is in Kabul.
