Peace plan signed in Philippines

The Philippines has signed a framework peace agreement with the country's largest Muslim rebel group, which aims to bring to an end the 40-year conflict on the southern island of Mindanao.

The agreement, with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), outlines steps towards the creation of a semi-autonomous Muslim-majority region in the south of the Philippines, a mainly Catholic nation.
