Kashmir girl band member: 'I don't know why we are getting stopped'

One of the members of an all-girl rock group, Pragaash, at the centre of a controversy in Indian-administered Kashmir told the BBC that their intention was not to disrespect Islam, as alleged by the region's most senior cleric.

Speaking to BBC Hindi, the teenager said she did not know why they were being stopped while male bands could perform but added "We respect their opinion and we have quit."
