Warren Rodwell's wife 'paid $98,000 ransom'

The wife of an Australian man kidnapped by an al-Qaeda-linked group in the Philippines has revealed that she paid a ransom of four million pesos (US$98,000) to secure his release.

An emaciated-looking Warren Rodwell was freed on Saturday near Pagadian city in the southern Philippines and later travelled to Manila, where he thanked all of those who had worked to secure his freedom.

Meanwhile his wife, Miraflor Gutang, told reporters in Zamboanga City that she had sold the family's possessions in order to raise money to pay his kidnappers.
