Parade of giant candles for Buddhist festival in Thailand

Giant wax candles depicting scenes from mythology have been paraded through Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand to usher in the start of an annual retreat for Buddhist monks.

Some of the candles were so tall that power lines had to be lifted to clear the way for them to pass.
