Australia election: Results to be announced shortly

Voting booths have closed on Australia's east coast, with the latest exit poll showing opposition leader, Tony Abbott, out in front.

Millions of people have cast their vote in the General Election, where the opposition is being tipped to bring an end to six years of Labour government.

Concerns over the economy and immigration have dominated the campaign.

BBC News Channel's Maxine Mawhinney spoke with reporter Yalda Hakim is in the Liberal Party room in Sydney.
