Afghanistan: Top female police officer dies

The most senior woman police officer in Afghanistan's troubled Helmand province has died after being shot by unknown gunmen.

Lieutenant Negar, known only by her surname, was shot near the police headquarters in the provincial capital, Lashkar Gar.

It comes just months after her female predecessor was also killed.

David Loyn reports from Kabul.
