Inside 'peace' palace ruined by war

The BBC's David Loyn takes a look inside a former royal palace and home to the communist-era parliament in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is remembering the death and disappearance of thousands of people under the communist regime of the late 1970s in a memorial service.

The ruined royal palace of Darul Aman - which means 'place of peace' - stands testament to that time in Afghanistan's history.

Once home to the communist-era parliament, it tells a story of decades of destruction.

David Loyn has been inside.
