Australia fires: Residents try to save homes

Residents across New South Wales have been preparing to leave their properties as bushfires edge ever closer.

Some homeowners have vowed to stay until they are ordered to leave by firefighters, while others are packing "photographs and important documents" and heading to safer areas.

High temperatures, low humidity and strong winds are expected to fan the flames over the coming hours and days.
