India media 'outraged' at sex assault claim

The Indian media is "shocked and outraged" that an alleged sexual assault has not resulted in criminal charges, Smita Mishra from the Indian Women's Press Corps says.

Tarun Tejpal, who edits top Indian magazine Tehelka, has stepped down from his position temporarily to "atone" for an "unfortunate incident".

It follows allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman colleague.

The woman had complained to the managing editor of the magazine about the alleged incident, but had not pressed charges.
