Bangladesh: Deaths in protests sparked by execution

At least seven people have been killed in Bangladesh during protests sparked by the execution of Abdul Kader Mullah, an Islamist opposition leader.

There have been pitched battles between the security forces and activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami party, which called a general strike across the country.

About 25 people have been killed in clashes since Abdul Kader Mullah was executed on Thursday for crimes against humanity committed during Bangladesh's war of independence from Pakistan in 1971.

Anbarasan Ethirajan reports.
