North Korea leader hails political purge

The North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has praised what he described as the "elimination of factionalist filth" in what are thought to be the first public remarks on the execution of his uncle Chang Song-thaek.

In a new year message, Mr Kim, also spoke of the need for better relations with South Korea.
