Record Japan snowfall leaves many isolated

The heavy snow that wreaked havoc in many parts of Japan over the weekend has left thousands of people trapped in their homes, cars or on trains.

The record snowfall continues to paralyse traffic in much of the country.

At least 12 people have died and more than 1,000 are injured according to officials

The bad weather is also affecting train services.
