Nepal earthquake: Police 'trying to pull people out'

The Nepali police and army have been trying to pull people out of the rubble left by a major earthquake which hit the Himalayan country.

More than 1,000 people have died from the 7.8 magnitude quake which struck an area of central Nepal.

Mahesh Acharya from the BBC Nepali service describes the situation in Kathmandu.
