China sees Taiwan as a breakaway province and wants it to reunite with the mainland

Tsai Ing-wen has been sworn in as the new president of Taiwan, becoming its first female leader.

Ms Tsai also called for "positive dialogue" with China, which sees Taiwan as a breakaway province.
