India's PM, Manmohan Singh, says he will step down
The Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, has said he will not stand in the next general elections, and that he will hand over power to a new prime minister.
He has been the prime minister in the world's largest democracy for nearly ten years.
Mr Singh made the announcement at a press conference. He said: "In a few months' time after the general election I will hand the baton over to a new prime minister."
