Kolkata Book Fair welcomes international literature lovers

The International Kolkata Book Fair has been welcoming hundreds of thousands of people to the Indian city of Calcutta.

The fair, which runs for 12 days each winter, claims to be the largest non-trade event in the world, and attracts book sellers and buyers from across the globe.

Since its inaugural event in 1976, the fair has grown to include almost 800 stalls.

The event's Honorary General Secretary, Tridib Chatterjee told BBC News why the fair was so important.
